Dunwoody Update: Lemonade Days, Sanitation Changes, Voting & Events

1. Lemonade Days … Tomorrow, is the last day for this year’s Lemonade Days at Brook Run Park. The Chaplin has answered our prayers for great weather and everyone is having a fun time. Bring yourself and the entire family over tomorrow for a fun filled day. All proceeds go back into our Parks.

2. Sanitation Pick UP Changes … This Monday, April 28, DeKalb County (DC) starts a trial period for once a week pick up for those in certain designated areas of our County … about 30% of Dunwoody is in the designated trial area including Meredy and I. If you are in the trial area you should have received … a letter from DC, a 65 gallon green container on wheels and a yellow hanging instructional document. If you didn’t receive these items then your trash pick up will be the same as usual. The following info is only for those in the trial area …
Pick up day … Your pick up day will be the same day as your yard waste and recycle pick up is currently.
Method of pick up … There will be three trucks coming by with each truck picking up one of the below items:
You will put you new 65 gal. container out will normal trash (make sure it is in plastic bags within this container as the container is going to be flipped to empty it into the truck with a hydraulic arm … if you have loose items in this container they are going to be scattered all over your area. Place the container with the pull handle facing the curb … the medal bar which the hydraulic arms picks the container up by will be facing the street  … there is also a green arrow on each of the top back of the lid that should be pointing towards the street.
Recyclables will still go out in the blue box and blue bags.
Yard waste will continue to be put in yard waste bags or properly bundled.
Feedback … The DC Sanitation Dept. solicits your comments. Ph # 404-294-2900 or 770-936-5436/5427.

Two other items …
For those citizens that currently have “back door” pick up that will continue as currently done … just use the 65 gal. green container.
In the trial period only 65 gallon containers will be available. If the, one day a week pick up becomes permanent, then DC will investigated the purchase of smaller containers for those physically unable to handle the 65 gallon containers.
