Dunwoody Update: New City Hall, City Council Meetings, This is Dunwoody, Hazardous Waste Recycling, Paving, Tornado Gathering, Dunwoody Idol

1. New City Hall "Open House and Tours" … The “Open House and Tours” of our new city hall will take place tomorrow, Thursday / MAR 15, from 4 to 8 PM. We expanded the hours to accommodate those citizens and business owners/workers who get home/off early as well as those who work late. The city hall belongs to all of us so we hope all of you will take advantage to come see our beautiful new home that we call Dunwoody City Hall.

2. City Council Meetings … Our next city council meeting will take place on Monday / MAR 26 starting at 6 PM. There are some important issues to be decided so come and bring your input. Be informed and be involved. You can go to our city website www.dunwoodyga.gov then click on “Government" and then click on “Agendas and Minutes” and then click on City Council Meeting - Agenda. Click on “HTML" and you will get the agenda outline plus the details of each agenda item. The agenda is always posted on the website by 5 PM on the WED just prior to the Monday city council meeting. Be advised that there will possibly agenda updates after the agenda is initially published.

"This is Dunwoody” … The “This is Dunwoody” video is a short about 2 minute video on what it means to live in Dunwoody and, was done by "Dunwoody’s Own" Trey Lyda who volunteered his services ...  it his excellent. 4. Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Event … This event sponsored by DeKalb County Sanitation Division and please note _ IT WILL TAKE PLACE AT 3720 LEROY SCOTT DR, DECATUR, GA … this Saturday, MAR 17 from 8 AM to 12 PMThere will be a 10 gallon / car paint limit. There will be a Household Hazardous Waste Recycling event in Dunwoody at a later date.

5. 2018 Paving Bid … The 2018 paving bids have been received and Blount Paving was the winning bidder. They have worked for us before and have done quality work. Our staff came up with the idea to put out the bid for three years instead a one year period and the idea was successful. Prices from this years bid increased very little from last year and thus we are hoping to move up some streets on the 2019 paving list up to 2018. 

6. Dunwoody Tornado Community Gathering … This event to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the APR, 1998 tornado that hit Dunwoody. The true will and determination of the Dunwoody Citizens was on full display during and after this tornado. The event will take place Sunday, APR 8, 2018 at the Kingsley Swim and Tennis Clubhouse, 2325 N Peachtree Way at 2 PM. Organizers are seeking photos and archives in high resolution scan (300 dpi) from during or after the event. Send these items to … tornado20@criernewspapers.com

7. Third Annual “Dunwoody Idol Auditions … This event will take place at the historic 1870 Donaldson-Bannister House and Gardens, 4831 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd, on Sunday, MAR 18 from 12 - 3 PM to select 10 singing finalist and one band. They will all compete/perform at Lemonade Days on SAT, APR 21.
